Poverty and Inequality in the 21st Century
The economic progress achieved over the past two centuries has enabled many people to lift themselves out of poverty globally. The social inequalities that still persist in many regions of the world are increasing and are unacceptable. As part of the international community we cannot remain oblivious to the fact that even today there are still 800 million people suffering from famine and extreme poverty while unlimited wealth is increasing in parallel.
We need an international response in the form of a plan that sets ethical boundaries and commitments to alleviate this situation.
